Whiteaker Printmakers is hosting another Social Pressure event on Friday, September 30, at 6:30 PM, during the Whiteaker Last Friday Art Walk. We'll explore linocut printmaking -- a simple technique of printing from a linoleum plate hand-carved with specialized cutting tools. Everyone is welcome; no experience necessary. It's $10 to participate (all tools and materials provided), or free if you just want to hang out, watch, and be social.

“Pressing Matters, 2016,” Whiteaker Printmakers' first juried printmaking exhibition, opens August 2 at the Emerald Art Center in neighboring Springfield, Oregon. All traditional (hand-pulled) printmaking techniques are eligible for entry. Our juror is Karen Kunc, of Constellation Studios and the University of Nebraska in Lincoln. The exhibition runs August 2 through September 2.

Whiteaker Printmakers is now offering occasional Wednesday evening Print Talk sessions with Mika Aono Boyd. These sessions are designed to be fun, relaxed, and informative demonstrations and discussions of a variety of printmaking techniques. Our first session will be devoted to intaglio printmaking, with emphasis on drypoint, and hard and soft ground etchings.
